This little video got me thinking: are movies just cliches?

I mean, I know that their quality has been dropping and that the entire industry is currently reorganizing elements in order to spur out creativity, but, nonetheless, is it just a mix of internalized frames or is it something more? What makes that special element appear? Because it seems to me that, lately, movies tend to fall in certain, well depicted categories. And I cannot say I like it.
