Markus Schulz – Global DJ Broadcast World Tour or Bucharest on fire

Some people are born to live on the dance floor, some at the DJ stand. It’s a matter of fate, talent, work and inspiration. Markus Schulz is one of the people that were born with an amazing gift: the talent to create incredible music and to inspire thousands.

The experience I had Saturday night is one of the most intense of this year. I had waited for Markus Schulz’s performance for months and I couldn’t wait to hear him play, as his album is, by far, one of the best that came out this year. After a very nice warm up by Snatt & Vix, Markus made his appearance, passing me by just inches away (imagine the huge grin on my face). All the people in Studio Martin had called his name a numb of times already, excitement going through the roof while they were running out of patience. He climbed on stage while the entire crowd cheered and shouted his name, while his face lit up with joy. What followed is an epic night of unbelievable trance music and incredible energy that started with Surreal. Markus played the public like a guitar he had for a lifetime, in perfect harmony and reading our every reaction. He spiked the tempo up to the limit and then sweetened the bpm with beautiful vocal parts from the tracks on his latest album, Do you dream.

Also, he had an incredibly sexy performance! He is quite charming, with his crooked smile, his soft but powerful gestures and his intense vibe. Always in control, always inspiring, Markus made the ladies swoon, including myself. When I thought I couldn’t dance anymore, he changed the tempo and I moved like I had just had an overdose of adrenalin. The truth is I was overdosing on amazing trance music. I loved Do you dream, Away, The new world and Not the same melted my heart entirely.

Markus fed upon our energy and enthusiasm and he kept giving us what we loved: edgy beats, hypnotic rhythms and meaningful lyrics. Though less vocal than I expected, Markus’s music is very compelling and nothing can get in its way. He played Paul van Dyk’s Home for us and pulled out a Romanian flag. He pointed to us and we felt, then and there, that we were his home, anywhere he’d go. We, the trance loving public, are his home and nothing can change that.

The public cheered, clapped, called his name and responded to his every beat, being one with the DJ. It was a blast of freedom, incredible music and passion and a very nice crowd, unlike any other I’ve seen until now. And Markus felt it. And Markus loved it. His genuine smile lit up the club more than any spotlight. After four hours of his music I felt more energized than after drinking 10 Redbulls. Here’s what he posted on his Twitter account shortly after the show:

Wow Bucharest. What can I say? Thank you for all the love. Studio Martin was rocking all night. The crowd was amazing.

Markus Schulz was surreal, perfect and he lifted us into the clouds. It was a dream come true! I keep listening to the album and I’m still trying to relive every second and it still makes me shiver. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my vacation.

Thank you, Markus, for giving so much of yourself like you do! Keep the beats coming and we’ll be here, ready to taste every single drop of pure trance music.

Location: Studio Martin, Bucharest, Romania
Organizers: TrancENdance
Thumbs down for the organizers who thought it would be a good idea to allow just about anyone from their friends and family to sit on stage, behind Markus’s deck. It was uncool, unprofessional and deeply annoying. Leave the stage to the artist next time, will you?
